Valve Anti-Cheat Games & Compatibility Guide
Valve Anti-Cheat, or VAC, is Valve’s automated anti-cheat system. Counter-Strike 2’s official Steam listing names VAC. For CS2 product research, keep that official game fact separate from a provider’s claim that a tool is compatible or undetected. A VAC ban, a game restriction and a third-party server ban are also different issues, with different sources controlling their meaning.

What Valve Anti-Cheat is
Steam Support describes VAC as an automated system used to detect cheats in protected games. A VAC-secured server is part of that context. The term does not describe every rule or restriction imposed by every community server or competitive platform.

Counter-Strike 2 and VAC
Valve’s Steam page for Counter-Strike 2 explicitly lists VAC as anti-cheat software. That is a useful primary source for the game relationship. It does not automatically establish the protection used by an external league or another game carrying the Counter-Strike name.
Product names can outlive game versions. If a store still uses a CS:GO label, inspect whether the current listing explicitly names CS2 before assigning it to a CS2 comparison. We do not infer support from an old screenshot or a brand’s general history in Counter-Strike.

VAC bans and other restrictions
Steam says VAC bans are permanent and cannot be removed by Steam Support, while bans determined to be incorrect are removed automatically. Its support material also distinguishes VAC bans from server bans.
The exact restriction matters. A provider’s use of “unban” does not establish that Valve has removed a VAC ban. A third-party competitive service can have its own account rules, and a problem on that service should not be described as a VAC decision without evidence.
Do not infer a hardware ban simply because a player cannot join a match. Use the notice and the relevant official support record. CheatsMatch compares published product information; it cannot decide an account case or change a sanction.
What provider compatibility means
A useful CS2 listing names the game, the claimed features, the implementation type and the platform. If one of those fields is unclear, the comparison should preserve the uncertainty.
An internal tool and an external tool can advertise similar functions while describing different ways of operating. A feature such as ESP does not reveal the implementation on its own. “Private” or “slotted” describes a claim about access or availability, not an independently verified technical property.
When exact Windows versions are not stated, the listing says Windows PC. A general Windows 10/11 claim does not establish support for every build or setup. A stated exception belongs beside the product, even if most other listings do not name one.
Reading an undetected status claim
A provider’s “undetected” label is a dated claim about its product. We attribute it to the provider and check for a dedicated status page where available. We do not turn the label into a measured detection rate or a prediction.
A public detection history can also be incomplete. If the provider only started tracking history recently, that start date matters. An empty history does not establish that nothing ever happened before it. A customer’s short positive comment also cannot prove an uninterrupted record.
If a product-specific status cannot be established, we display “Couldn’t be verified.” A working download page, active sales thread or available subscription is not enough to substitute for a status check.
Provider details that still matter
Software claims are only part of the comparison. Match the official brand and product listing, then compare plan length, currency, current availability, support route and written refund conditions. A store offering several named brands may be a reseller or a mixed catalog; when that is an inference, we say so.
For reviews, identify whether the writer is discussing the provider’s support or the exact CS2 product. A complaint about delivery can inform delivery context. It does not prove how the software behaves, just as praise for a spoofer does not establish the quality of a separate CS2 tool.
How we assess VAC-related claims
Our documentation score measures how specific and complete the published information is. A visible price can be directly checked. A claim about functionality or compatibility stays provider-reported unless stronger evidence supports it. Missing or unresolved fields earn no points.
The score does not measure VAC effectiveness or a tool’s ability to avoid it. We also keep recommendation eligibility separate from the numeric result. An updating product cannot become Best Documented because it has a detailed website.

Frequently asked questions
Is a VAC ban the same as a server ban?
No. Steam’s support material distinguishes them. A community server or external service may apply its own rules and restrictions.
Can a provider remove a VAC ban?
A seller’s claim does not establish that Valve will remove a ban. Steam states that incorrect VAC bans are removed automatically and that Steam Support cannot remove them on request.
Does private or external mean undetectable?
No. Those labels describe claimed access or implementation characteristics. They do not establish a tested detection outcome.
